Cologne’s districts, to speak in the Kölsch dialect called ›Veedel‹, are not only numbered, as is common in some other cities. Instead they have grown distinct identities which in turn influence the atmosphere found in the city of Cologne. This cultural diversity was the inspiration for the workshop ›Veedeltype‹. Students of the ›KISD – Köln International School of Design‹ choose one of the Veedel or districts, did research and developed shapes that represent the characteristics of the chosen Veedel. The type designs were digitised, posters were made and in the end, the students’ work was presented in a final exhibition.
